Ice Unit
catches marijuana grower
Sheriff Alan C. Jones has announced
that on May 22, 2012, Agents with the Ice Unit investigated a Rhodhiss man growing
marijuana. Michael Lee Reed, age 42, of 211
Hickory Street was caught Tuesday with nine marijuana plants, drug paraphernalia, and
several bags of marijuana already packaged. Agents
responded to the residence after receiving a tip. After
finding several of the plants growing in buckets behind his residence, the agents tracked
down and made contact with Reed at his workplace. After
being confronted, Reed cooperated with authorities and gave consent to search his home.
A search of his home led to drug
paraphernalia items, another marijuana plant, cash, scales, and packaged marijuana being
found and seized by the Agents. Reed was not
arrested immediately and will most likely face Grand Jury Indictments later for
Manufacturing Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana, and Maintain a
Dwelling to Keep/Store a Controlled Substance.
