Update on the murder in Caldwell County that happened on July 9, 2011

The murder took place in the 1600 block of Dulatown Rd. in western Caldwell County.  The call was received at 8:18 pm and the first units arrived and found the victim deceased on the scene.   This is still a very active investigation and the Sheriff’s Office is asking that anyone with information on this case to please contact the Investigation Division at the Sheriff’s Office at 828-758-2324 or Crimestoppers at 828-758-8300.

The victim in this case is Alvin Louis Dula, Jr., 44 years old of 2214 Staircase Rd. Lenoir, NC he died at the scene as a result of an assault.  An autopsy is being performed to determine the exact cause of death.

The defendant in this case is Terry LaTodd Simpson, DOB 2/14/1978, black male of 2120 Liberty Church Rd, Hickory NC.  He is charged with First Degree Murder and Common Law Robbery.  He has a court appearance on July 11, 2011 in Lenoir.  He is being held in the Caldwell County Detention Center under no bond.

Sheriff Alan Jones stated “Our sympathy goes out to the family of Mr. Dula.  This is a tragic event and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.  I would also like thank the Dulatown Community for their cooperation in this investigation”
