Granite Falls man charged with trafficking pills

Sheriff Alan C. Jones has announced that on July 7, 2011, another prescription drug investigation came to a close with the arrest of a Granite Falls man.  Robert Lee Curtis Jr, age 55, of 171 Duke Street in Granite Falls was charged by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office Ice Unit with six counts of felony trafficking in Hydrocodone.

Ice Agents began investigating Curtis in February of this year.  Ice Agents, working closely with an undercover officer from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, managed to have the agent introduced to Curtis.  A relationship was established and the undercover agent began making purchases of Hydrocodone from Curtis.

As a result of the operation, two full prescription bottles containing one hundred hydrocodone pills each was purchased from the suspect.  The drugs seized have a street value of approximately $1,000 according to State guidelines.   Agents plan on contacting Curtis’ prescribing physicians to make them aware.

“We are going to continue our aggressive approach on prescription medication violations”. – Sheriff Alan C. Jones
