Illegal Drug Trafficker in Jail

On April 29, 2010, a drug investigation came to a close with the arrest of Angel Lozano Hernandez, 33, of 14 Circle Street in Granite Falls.  The investigation involved agents with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office Ice Unit, Longview Police Department and Granite Falls Police Department.  During the operation, Hernandez and his organization had been infiltrated by an undercover officer who had made several purchases of drugs from him.  The investigation led to a final arrangement for Hernandez to meet with the undercover officer at an undisclosed location with 9 pounds of marijuana and 4 ounces of powder cocaine.

When Hernandez arrived with the drugs he was taken into custody without incident.  A total of 9 ¾ pounds of marijuana and 141 grams of powder cocaine has been seized.  The drugs have a street value of approximately $64,000 according to state guidelines.  More drug charges on Hernandez are expected in the near future.

·        Three (3) counts of Felony Trafficking in Cocaine.

·        One (1) count of Felony Maintain a Vehicle to Keep/Store a Controlled Substance.

 

Hernandez was incarcerated under a $25,000 secured bond in the Caldwell County Detention Center and has a first appearance in District Court in Lenoir on May 3, 2010.  Additional charges are anticipated.
