Arrest Made in Drug Store Break-In

On March 17,
2010 the Caldwell County Sheriffs Office investigated a Breaking and Enter with
Larceny of Medications from the Gamewell Drug Store in Lenoir, North Carolina. Working on leads over the last week lead
Investigator Stephen Raby and Lieutenant Aaron Barlowe were able to make an arrest in this
incident.
The
investigators, working with fire investigators from Lenoir Fire Department and the Iredell
County Sheriffs Office, were able to arrest Erik Andrew Baxter, 19 years of age,
white male of 190 Rustwood Lane, Mooresville, North Carolina. The defendant is incarcerated in the Caldwell
County Detention Center charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Larceny and Possession
of Stolen Property. The defendant is under a
$50,000.00 secured bond.
Investigators
were able to connect the break-in with a fire set at Farm Bureau Insurance Company on
Lower Creek Drive that occurred minutes before the breaking and entering. The fire was set as a diversionary tactic to draw
attention toward Lower Creek Drive and away from Gamewell Drug.
Sheriff Alan
Jones stated that he is very proud of the hard work that the Investigation Division did on
this case. The cooperation between
agencies and the dedicated work of the investigators broke this case open and we were able
to build a solid case against the defendant.
Captain Brian
Bennett stated that additional charges and arrests will be forthcoming in the near future.
