Fugitive Arrested in Caldwell County

            On March 16, 2010 Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputies responded with the United States Marshal's Service to 2322 Morganton Blvd.  in an attempt to arrest a suspect wanted in Florala, Alabama for three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Child Under Twelve Years of Age.  Acting on information from the United States Marshals Service, the two agencies were able to safely take the suspect in custody.

            Arrested was Luther Paul Townsend, white male, 76 years of age.  He is currently in the custody of the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond pending extradition to Alabama.

            Sheriff Alan Jones stated that by working and developing relationships with other agencies, we are able to make our communities safe.  Jones said,   “By sharing information and building relationships with these outside agencies, we were able to remove a dangerous suspect from the streets of Caldwell County.”
