New Scam in Caldwell County
Over the past
two weeks the Caldwell County Sheriffs Office has had three reports from elderly
victims. Men are coming to the residence of
the victims posing as surveyors and telling the victims that their neighbors are in a
property dispute and they need to know where the back property lines are located. Once the two men and the victim have left the
residence and get to the back property line a third suspect enters the residence and
removes money and property. This has occurred
in the Happy Valley area and the Alfred Hartley Road area of the county. Suspect are three white males driving a white
pickup truck.
Sheriff Alan
Jones stated that citizens need to ask for identification and contact the survey company
to verify the identification of the subjects and to make sure they have a valid reason to
be on the citizens property. If
the employee is there for a valid reason they will wait for the citizen to verify the
information Stated Jones.
If anyone has
information on these suspects they are asked to call the Caldwell County Sheriffs
Office at 758-2324 or Crimestoppers at 758-8300.
