Peck Homicide
On November 14, 2009, at 4:11 a.m. the Caldwell County Communications Center received a call for medical assistance at 3190 Covington Way, Lenoir NC. The caller advised that her husband was having a medical problem and he was becoming violent. The Communications Center dispatched the proper EMS and First Responders along with Law Enforcement. The responding officers were notified by communications that they had lost phone contact with caller. When responding officers arrived on the scene they found the doors locked and upon looking in a window they saw a female lying on the floor. Deputies made a forced entry into the residence and discovered that the female caller had been shot several times and was unresponsive. The deputies searched the residence and found the victims husband hiding in a closet.
The victim, Glenda Dian Peck, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victims husband has been charged with First Degree Murder and is incarcerated in the Caldwell County Detention Center under no bond.
Sheriff Alan Jones stated that this is a very tragic situation and the departments thoughts and prayers go out to the victims family. Sheriff Jones also stated that this investigation is still very active and is very confident that questions surrounding the event will be answered.
