Breaking and Entering Suspect Arrested

On 9-1-09 detectives with the Caldwell County Sheriffs Office arrested a suspect that broke into a residence at 4175 Overbrook Court in Lenoir. The homeowner arrived home at 2:50 pm and found the suspect in his residence. The homeowner confronted the suspect and asked the suspect what he was doing in the residence. The suspect stated that the victims son told him to come and get the property that the suspect had with him. The homeowner escorted the suspect out of the residence and called the Sheriffs Office. The responding officers obtained a description of the suspect and broadcast the description over the radio. Lieutenant Brian Bennett and Detective Ken Bentley were in the area and located the suspect on the roadway not far from the victims residence. The suspect was identified by the victim and taken into custody. The victims property was also recovered by officers on the scene.
Sheriff Alan Jones stated that the homeowner did a great job in giving a description of the suspect to the responding offices. The victims information was very accurate and the actions and training of the responding officers led to the arrest of this suspect.
Arrested was Randal Scott Carswell, of 4070 Smokey Creek Rd. Lenoir, NC , white male, date of birth 4/29/1981. He has been charged with Felony Breaking and Entering and Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering. He was placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $25,000.00 secured bond. Mr. Carswell has a first appearance date of 9/3/2009 in Caldwell County District Court.
