K-9 Division

It is the mission of the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office K9 Division to disrupt and dismantle narcotic operations to help provide a safer and drug-free community for the citizens of Caldwell County. The division does this by assisting in locating narcotics during the service of search warrants, conducting free air sniffs of the exterior of vehicles during traffic stops, and through school searches to deter controlled substance possession at the educational facilities within the community.
K9s are instrumental in the deterrence and seizure of illegal drugs.
The K9 Division also conducts community awareness demonstrations at churches, schools, daycare facilities, and many other civic organizations. The trailing abilities of the K9s are utilized not only for locating fugitives or suspected criminals; they can also assist in locating missing people, such as lost children and elderly persons.
The K9s are also trained to conduct evidence or article searches to locate specific items, i.e., a pistol discarded by a perpetrator in the woods after committing a crime. Our K9 partners also apprehend fleeing felony suspects and serve as protectors of their law enforcement counterparts.
The teams are certified annually through the North American Police Work Dog Association.
Please feel free to contact the Sheriffs Office at 828-758-2324 with any questions or to schedule a demonstration.
Please inquire about demonstrations 3-4 weeks prior to the requested date to assist in scheduling.
We would like to thank the following community members for assistance in purchasing much needed training aids and supplies for our K-9's. Through the donations of people like these and you, we can continue to operate in a time when county budget resources are limited:
