Detention Center
(828) 759-1510

Completed in October 1999 with 185 beds, the Detention Center confines inmates in a manner that assures their secure custody and humane treatment, through strict compliance with the requirements of State and Federal Laws.
Inmates buy supplies and other related items through the jail commissary. This store-like operation has provided much needed money for the operation of the detention center, taking some of that burden off the tax payers of Caldwell County and also ensuring no contraband is brought into the Detention Center by means of an outside source. In 2008, the detention center installed a fully electronic commissary system contracted by Aramark, Inc. This installation allows time to be devoted to more important tasks such as facility security while allowing inmates a better choice of items though the program. This program also allows families to purchase "care packages" for their loved one who may be incarcerated during special times such as holidays and birthdays.
