Sandra Joan Bryant
On Saturday, April 12, 1969 the body of Sandra Joan Bryant was found in a wooded area on the Dry Ponds Road in Sawmills. She had been severely beaten. Sandra was last seen alive one week before on April 5, 1969 at the bus terminal in Lenoir. She had spent the night with one of her school friends on Friday, April 4, 1969. She and her friend were dropped off uptown Lenoir the next morning around 10:00 am. They walked around for several hours and Sandra decided that she was going to stay in Lenoir instead of going back home with her friend.
Several witnesses reported seeing Sandra standing on the sidewalk around 5:30 pm talking to a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, slender build, with wavy hair. He was wearing a sport shirt with polka dot type circles and dark blue trousers and yellow socks. This is the last time that anyone reports seeing Sandra.
