Adam William Klutz
Caldwell County Deputy Sheriff Adam Klutz was murdered during an ambush on September 19, 2008 after responding to an unanswered 911 call. The suspect, Iraq War veteran Larry Brucke fled, launching a statewide manhunt, but later killed himself. Deputy Klutz had been with the Sheriff's Office for just eighteen months. He started working in the jail, then as a transport officer and became a member of the patrol division just five months prior to his death. He was a lifelong swimmer. He worked as a swim coach and life guard throughout high school and college and was an active member of the Granite Falls Recreational Swim Team. Deputy Klutz also loved to play the guitar and watch professional wrestling with his friends. Although Adam was not married, he leaves behind a long list of loved ones including 2 grieving parents. |
